Known as Cornflower, Bachelor’s Button, and Basket Flower, Centaurea is a plant with erect and hairy stems and narrow leaves. The flowers of this plant have disk florets similar to the yellow centre of a daisy.
Its fringed flowers come in shades of pink, yellow, white, and true blue. Its bracts often have toothed or spiny tips in black or white. It can produce double and single blooms which can be used as a cut or dried flower. The Centaurea flower signifies these positive qualities: hope, remembrance, devotion, delicacy, anticipation, unity, fertility and love. It is also a symbol of wealth, prosperity and the future.
