Guelder Rose

Guelder rose goes by many names – highbush cranberry, rose elder, snowball tree, and crampbark. Its name, Guelder rose, originates in the Gelderland province of The Netherlands. This flower blooms in late spring to early summer. It produces branching clusters of flowers in white and sometimes shades of pink.

Another indicator of the Guelder rose is the round, juicy berries. Its leaves are similar to maple leaves as they are bright green in the summer and turn orange and red in the fall. Guelder rose is an ancient woodland indicator. If you encounter one, it could be a sign you are in a rare and special habitat.
