Hydrangeas

Hydrangeas

The word hydrangea is composed of two Greek words. These two words are hydra which means ‘water’ and angos meaning ‘vessel.’ Together, these words mean “water barrel” as hydrangeas are known for needing lots of water.

At the same time, its flowers are shaped like a cup. The blooms of hydrangeas are blue, violet, pink, white or red. The colour depends on the acidity of the soil. Alkaline soil, for instance, produces pink flowers.
