Durham is a historic city in North East England and well known for its Durham Castle that was built in the 11th century. The District lies on the River Wear, to the north of Darlington, to the south-west of Sunderland and south of Newcastle upon Tyne. Bill Bryson describes Durham as a perfect little city for it is the home of the greatest historic place in Europe. Clive Staples Lewis was an English Literature and also a Professor at Durham University, he was the one who loves to write about ‘The Witch, The Wardrobe and The Lion’. Ralph Wood is the one who built the world’s oldest and longest single-arch railway bridge of Durham in the year 1975. The record of the Railway Bridge is held for about 30 years.
